Notice periods
The Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973-2001 creates minimum periods of notice that are required to given by both employer and employee when terminating the employment. It also covers the rights of employees and employers concerning these periods of notice.
Employees are not entitled to notice from their employer until they reach 13 weeks’ service.
There may be circumstances in which either party may terminate the contract without notice, for example, where an act of gross misconduct is committed.
