Redundancy pay

Employees who are made redundant and meet the requirements on continuous and reckonable service are entitled to receive a redundancy payment calculated in accordance with a statutory formula.

The calculation of continuous and reckonable service is done according to strict rules and it is important not to confuse the two calculations because they are carried out for different purposes.

Entitlement to this payment can be affected by certain factors, for example, an employee taking up alternative employment with the employer after his/her role has been identified as redundant.
