Workplace health and safety
Health and safety legislation was given a complete overhaul in 2005 when the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act was implemented. This Act replaced the original Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 and introduced some new legal requirements for all parties concerned, including employers, employees, contractors, suppliers etc.
Health and safety in employment is both an important and complicated area with different requirements for each industry/sector. This section is aimed as a brief guide on this complex area.
