Zero hour employees
Zero hour employees are those which are given no guaranteed hours of work by their employer but are required to be available for work under certain conditions.
The Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 requires zero hour workers to be provided with compensation in certain circumstances where no work, or minimal work, is provided.
The Employment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2018 prohibits zero hours contracts save in certain limited circumstances.
