Overview
If an employee has a family crisis, then they have a right to limited time off work.

- The Parental Leave Act of 1998 and the 2006 Amendment Act provide for force majeure leave for all employees, which is paid leave granted to an employee in the event that a relative is ill or injured and the employee's presence is required.
- 'Relative' has a specific definition for the purposes of this legislation.
- Paid leave is restricted to 3 days in a 12-month period subject to a maximum of 5 days over a 36-month period.
