Grievance procedures
Every organisation will encounter employees who are dissatisfied with a management decision or something else occurring at work - reorganisation and layoffs are typical examples. When a grievance is lodged, discontent is elevated to a level that necessitates a considered response. This guide provides guidance on how to organise and conduct grievance hearings.
Many grievance issues can be resolved informally with a quiet word. However, where informal resolution is not possible, a grievance procedure should set out the appropriate way for an employee to raise the issue with management formally, encompassing the provisions of the Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures.
