Parental leave
Overview
The Parental Leave Act 1998 was introduced to entitle parents of children of the qualifying age of 12, to a period of unpaid parental leave to take care of their child.
Generally, an employee must have one year's continuous service prior to requesting parental leave. The Act permits employers to postpone leave in certain circumstances.
